An Aimless Smile
An Aimless Smile
Cheshire cat
It’s been almost twenty-four years since I came up with the idea that Lewis Carroll’s Cheshire Cat was likely a metaphor for the moon. That no-one else had seriously propounded the notion was a little discomforting, but it opened up the possibility that I had discovered something!
It took some fifteen years to get my essay on the subject out there and I hoped, of course, that that point of view might be somehow embraced. If nothing else, I thought, I can die now. :)
Ideas come and go and — let’s be honest — most of them are worthless. Just for comparison, read an alternate interpretation of the Cheshire grin at the bottom of this psychobabble. It’s not difficult to understand why some memes blossom and others languish. One thing is certain: truth alone has very little to do with it.
