Disentanglement Puzzle

Puzzles in the movies I

There are likely quite a few cinematic examples of crossword puzzles. Of the solid puzzle variety, there are jigsaw puzzles and, more recently, Rubik's cube. But apart from these, what sort of puzzles can be found in the movies?

The above picture of a disentanglement puzzle (basically two intertwined curved nails) is an early example from the 1923 film "Three Ages", a comedy starring Buster Keaton, Margaret Leahy, and Wallace Beery. The puzzle scene is only about twenty-five seconds long: I've decomposed it into forty stills.
