Bill Cutler is the partly obscured man on the left holding a burr puzzle at the Los Angeles puzzle party in 1986. Bill is one of only two puzzle acquaintances that have visited me at home here in Toronto (the other being Stewart Coffin).

I had written Bill a long time ago because I was once curious about his computer analysis of solutions to the six-piece burr puzzle. Over the course of the next few years, I purchased from him a plethora of wooden puzzles that he had personally made. Eventually, Bill teamed up with Jerry McFarland so that he might have some help with the woodworking but, by then I had stopped buying.

The most prominent thing that I can recall from the occasion when Bill visited me is that he was then a serious cola-drink fiend! :)
